The Mystics and the Marauders

Dr. Simmi Gurwara

Here you come-
The mystics and the marauders
in shiny silhouettes with crooked cravings
to capture my mind and chain my shifting moods,
to see me helpless and hollow,
wiggling and wriggling,
to catch a forgotten breath
in the oceans of insanity
and lose my feet
to keep dangling
in the misty airs
of half-truths and wholesome lies.

As the ebullitions of resistance
raise their wonky heads,
they are mercilessly beheaded
by the knaves, who
send the reminders
every other day to readjust,
realign the geographies
of my ever expanding
circle, that never fails to beckon
the previously uninvited
guests of honor,
who willingly overstay to compensate
the losses, borne with complete grace
and a pinch of grandeur.

Ruffians as they are
they dislodge their moorings
and set their sails in surreal bodies,
to find the allowances with silent acceptances
till they raze the assembly,
that once boasted
virtuosity and vigor
and the high tide of
suppleness, that gradually receded
and became one with the assaulters.
They swell their tribe and vanquish
the marginal minnows
who threaten the thrones
of centuries old
stereotypical and skewed
notions to overthrow
the maniacally dancing tribes
of these mystics and marauders.
