Tricky Terrains

Dr. Simmi Gurwara

I would like to wade through these terrains
that inspire awe and surprise,
sending warning signals at every step.
I recoil and reset my journey
making it more livable, likeable,
sparing the moons but swallowing the suns
that threaten to burn my frail fingers
as I raise from twenty feet under
to touch the elusive skies,
my shaking nerves and fading strengths
grumble, taking note of the circle that
I aspire to complete
One fine day,
One fine stroke
