Love Wins

Dr. O. P. Arora

 

He was in his frame
guarding the bridge main.
Night was dark, no moon
his one shot, make way soon
give him Vir Chakra by noon…
His finger on the trigger
the breeze brought waft of the mint
mesmerized, he thought of her
arms of love, her lips’ quiver
her love won him over…
He abandoned the kill
got lost in the thrill…

Arora, a well-known poet, novelist and short story writer, holds a distinctive place among contemporary Indian writers in English.  He has an excellent academic record and holds a Doctorate in English Literature from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has taught in Delhi University for nearly four decades.
